it looks to me that this might already have a normal map applied, but it definitely would be helpful to see some wires. I say that it looks like its already been baked because those look like seams along the outer edges and those circular indents appear to flatten out as you look down the beam. if it's a recent version of maya then it may be related to their 'customer involvement' tool, something that talks to autodesk whenever you close down the app. causes a not-so-brief hang after clicking exit from what i've seen. perhaps in your case it triggers something else?… -
