Thank you guys so much! All super helpful! I've always struggled with poly counts because I don't know how much is TOO much. The Hub Creature is 20k tris and still feels low to me, but I wasn't sure if I should push the count further or not.
on a creature like this its not uncommon to have a rendermesh with 1mio poly... and a second mesh for animation... the anim mesh is around 200k... or even lower... the 1mio poly mesh is the one that gets rendered with the displacement on top... the polycount of the highress mesh in zbrush doesnt matter... go as high as…
Good job man. His teeth are currently too white and pop out significantly from the rest of the creature. It makes the demon appear slightly cartoonish because of this. Try making the teeth discolored in tones of yellow, possibly green. Play around and see what you get. That's my suggestion, anyways.
Ideally more than say, three. And also show range, i.e. not three generic women. I'm putting together in my portfolio, one guy, a woman, a creature/non-human and a hard surface orientated character. So basically a range of characters a studio would expect you to be able to create.
The textures were largely photoscourced, and hell I never released these guys...but... And these guys, the first models I textured by hand, have a sentimental place, plus I've kind of run with this little universe of alien creatures. As far as 2d art, I just have a couple of recent skins that I like.
Not bad waka seeming as its your first textured 3D model.. ever :P will be getting back to my texturing later this week, hands full with modelling strange little creatures for work :P anyone else cooking up some Fzero tastyness? its been a tad quiet :P
Hey Andy! I love the fawn/man creature. It's pretty adorable. I think the grass might look better if it was moved to the left side of his mouth though? It looks like you were going for the look of him chewing it but right now it looks like it is stuck in his front teeth.
Ave said: Ave, This work is all fantastic, but i gotta ask on this one. Was its face inspired by this image of a worm's face: I made a character with the same type of head years ago in my first year of school, and your creature looks so similar that i just have ask!
Although, I have never played Left 4 Dead, I love the art behind it! That's why I have decided to pay my tribute by designing a creature that is inspired by the Tank but spiced up with features from my point of view. Here are the very first WIPs. There's loong way to go. :)
as for your handpainted character,. I'm not sure what it is. I like the colors you chose. It looks like there's a line going thru he brown cylinder though. Methinks that wasn't intentional, but i've been wrong before. I really like its face. is it supposed to be a mechanical chair/gun creature?
