i'd love to have an app I like working in that i can install at any company without licensing issues. being able to network render without issue is a big thing for me at the moment. (this is why im bothering to look)
Hmm no not really, the purple plane is what I want to bake from and the sphere is already a separate object, so I need the plane not to show up in the render and then I'll get the sphere shape in the alpha... Not sure if I'm being clear?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that a compositing tool to use with final, static render images? I am referring to viewport speed - how fast things update as soon as I rotate things around when using Cycles.
You defintiely don't need reflection probes. You just need to turn on SSR's in the eevee render settings and dial in the thickness value. IF you have DECALmachine, open the Asset Example in the Help panel, it has it already set up.
Anyone know whats going on for me with cycles? Baking reverts to CPU and viewport performance is down, I was hoping to use bake tools and gpu rendering to more efficiently blast though multiple assets in a modular set I'm working on.
Nice, it's looking full featured already ! Can't wait to play with it. With this and the Cycles node setup by Jed, Blender might soon be the first package to ever have both realtime and offline rendering PBR support at the same time. Fantastic stuff.
Blender's Cycles had its license type changed this morning. It's now Apache License 2.0, making it able to be integrated freely into commercial software. Link: http://code.blender.org/index.php/2013/08/cycles-render-engine-released-with-permissive-license/
@Linko Thanks, I already know about that, but that is for baking. I'm wondering about swizzle flipping existing normal maps. Every renderer I've ever used can do this in the normal map node/channel. Surely Blender can too?
Is your compute device set to the GPU in System tab of user preferences? On the render settings tab of the Properties panel is it set to use the GPU? If you're on Linux have you tried running Blender as root if the compute devices don't show up?
It's not supported out of the box. There are a few addons that try to adress this. I think the vanilla approach is to link into multiple scenes, but I feel this is a bit annoying. It's also very easy to write your own small render script - which is what I do ;)
