Hi guys, How would you model this to create a modular ground? I tried tileable texture but it's not quite the same result. Create different unique hi-res models and bake it? If so, how would you model it in a fast way, nanomesh or arraymesh? Thanks a lot!
What is the best way to model rectangular, sharp inserts on the wall of a curved cylinder? I tried retopo-ing the beveled edges to maintain quads but theres still artifacts? (You dont have to model all three rectangles, only 1 will suffice). Thanks. Wire: Subdiv:
How big is the screw going to be in the final model? If the shading error isn't going to show up when you bake the model, it's not anything to worry about.
Are you talking about using Maya or another modeling software? The only modeling software I have is Maya 2011 and I want to make weapons for TF2. I have a model of a rocket launcher for the soldier that I would like to submit to Valve, but is it even possible to do with Maya?
Shimigami you really seem to be struggling with Subd, that's ok there are a lot of quirks and edge cases to modeling high detail hardsurface models with subd. A lot of things you have run into would be very simple if modeled with NURBS. Well maybe, I'm not sure what 3dsmax's NURBS are like.
Well.. it's essentially a cylinder.. with "extrusions" from a certain edge.. but "rounded".. so "just model away"... Even if not "perfect".. this already renders quite nicely.. ( luckily its a 30degree turn.. see last image ) And the wires: And a closer look at a previous WIP while contructing this ( more…
