Someone tell me how to model dem shapes. How do I connect anything 45 degrees sucks. Maybe I just need to think bigger, bigger grid. All fit perfectly into squares you know? Trying to do something similar to the ODST New Mombasa roads.
Made some progress on the bottom part, looking right now, but the corner piece running towards to the top is too flat, and the connection at the top is just plain wrong atm! Using the above topology I ended up with this... its kinda like this but maybe needs a little more roundness on the corner pieces?
Hello, first post. If there is a better place for this, please let me know. I'm making the Con-Am shuttle from "Outland" as an exercise to get better at hard surface modeling. I've blocked it out and am starting on the more detailed version. I am faced right away with the question of how much to "connect" details vs. just…
@ANAFREE It would be best and less of a hassle to separate the handles from the cube mesh. I do not see a reason to keep them connected. As the subdivision tries to smooth out all the elongated topology, it creates overlaps which causes the z fighting. Separate the mesh, clean the messy face, and add a subdiv modifier.
One silly noob question. After chamfered a loop, i made a one segment connect but of course it gets flat like grait plains, so how to fix this without vertex pushing/pulling? Have tried to move or scale the edgeloop but of course it ends up with endless poly/vertex pushing. Thanks!
i don't really understand the problem is this for your lowpoly or do you want to model your highpoly ? to get rid of the shading issues on the side you need to either harden the edge between the top and the side, or you need to create a supportedge on the side, or bevel the edge or are you trying to connect all the pieces ?
@SkinnyM Aside from your support loops being far too tight - you are clustering a lot of topology in such a small area, with sparse surrounding geo, giving you a pinch. Basically detailling too soon. Try having much more geometry/curvature established on the grip of the gun before trying to connect the trigger guard.
Hey guys, i have a problem, i can't figure out how to model this "knob" thingy at the sword. If you look from below you can see its a cylinder with 6 sides but it is round where it connects with the handle. Also those arc's on each side are very hard to figure out for me.
Trying to add this in cylinder but can't figure out , how do I connect the edges . Here is something that I tried but can't figure it out. I have added a white plane to show the gap that is causing the issue. the green and the and the pink part is welded but added different material on it to highlight. Front view Top view.
Select connected edges, right click, convert to spline. Select object you want to duplicate, use the spacing tool, select spline you just made, mess with parameters till it looks right. pro: you keep the spline for further use Con: more steps and more fiddly than shown in the video.
