Precisly Keyword for stuff that curve, Spacing! And i added enough geo, Because every side needs 2 supporting loops (+1 the one thats already there) 6*3 = 18. Did not like the spacing so i added 4 extra edges where there were to big spacing apart, so in total 22.
Not trying to advertise or anything, but I made a tutorial on how to make this type of pattern, and how to make it tile correctly. https://gumroad.com/l/GZCvz (Use the promo code "polycount" to get 100% off. 5 uses only!) Edit:// 2 uses left. I really hope Dklang is one of them, if not, PM me. :)
Hello Guys, How to go around model this thing? I actually have done it like the pictures you see, But I was wondering how do you guys would do it cause it took me around 2 hours and I'm not still fully satisfied. (Sorry for attaching the image my using host was down)
Oh, well one thing to keep in mind is that by default modo's sub-division is set to level to, whereas max's is set to level1. I think if you just bump up your turbosmooth setting to 2 iterations you'll see the same results as in modo. I generally model all of my sub-d stuff to look correct at level 2, but sometimes i'll…
I have no clue how to begin modelling this bits traditionally in 3D, it doesn't help that I'm a bit of a noob in modo as well since I picked it up like 2 weeks ago. Here's what I've made so far, the mirror shape was easy enough but these floral ornate pieces I just don't know where to begin and how to do it.
1. Well, that's not very nice of the mesh then, is it. Will try to do that. 2. Okaydokay. 3. Fairly close, I fear. Which is why I can't allow it to have such extreme flaws. I might have to accept that I need a different shape for it *sigh* I might give zBrush a spin for this. Thanks for all the help! :) Will keep an eye on…
@Thanez Thx! I realized some info were missing when I actually subd my models (I wasn't specifically thinking of subd requirement because it's actually a very small component, so baking won't do much). Now that I am looking at subd I think this approach is actually what I want: Because the subd result is the sort of…
I might be missing something but.. 1. No turbosmooth, all 1 smoothing group 2. No control edges, turbosmooth (2x) by smoothing groups, turbosmooth (2x) normal settings. 3. Control edges, all 1 smoothing group 4. Control edges, turbosmooth (2x) normal settings.
Like @p@Prime8 said. But to explain it once again, this is a question of enough supporting and Consistensy in your edgeflow to hold up that shape.. i started of with a simple plane, divided it once in the middle and twice in length. Turbosmoothed 2 times to have enough geo to work with without getting Problems.
Hi guys, ive reached a dead end and i cannot progress any further. IIts the bottom part of the handguard that gives me so much trouble. The curve at the bottom and the inset that ends with 2 edges connecting into a single vert. I tried extruding and using booleans but it just does not work. Please, tell me how do i even…
