Here's an example from my own work. This is the exact same game level, just tweaking the camera angle and materials and color grading to get different "looks". It's actually a ton of fun doing this, because all the content is made already. It's just putting a fun spin on it all to come up with something nice to look at.…
Receiver is an interesting case -- a lot of what I did for that game is an example of non-art type stuff. Low detail props shamelessly ripped off from Ikea for example, or the guns just being common guns that people seem to like. I think that helps the robots stand out. I did do some simple concepting work on the robots.…
Thanks for the comments guys :) @Rooster - yeah I was going for a more "realistic" take on Mean Machine so the one-dimensional "mean" is replaced with a kind of slow, slightly backwards brute, manipulated by the rest of the family to their own ends, which hopefully comes across in the expression. I'll take a final pass…
I don't think the Final Fantasy name carries all the weight in terms of sales. As far as I'm concerned, Squaresoft is at the forefront of JRPG's (very popular in Japan), and this game would make its money back overseas merely based on its production values alone. I think the lack of continuity has become very acceptable in…
So this week we started on a live-project brief from Rewind. It's very open. We received some concept art of a dystopian world which showed mostly snow, (after)warzone, mechs and some empty buildings in what seems around Poland. The brief was to either make a garage for the mechs or make the pilot. We have four weeks for…
This is the first time I've seen this thread. All my initial thoughts seemed like basic advice so I scrolled up and noticed SnowGhost said it already, and he was reiteration of StrangeFate. Based on these, is it even worth it to give any feedback since you're not paying it any mind? Either way, I'm going with it. High Poly…
@d1ver http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UX2PzNHwabE&feature=youtu.be&t=23m37s "They can take the most usual and mundane subjects and present them in a way that's so visually appealing" This is also very true in my opinion. In terms of the concepts as I think they're both pretty good and equally you could have said that the…
I agree a lot with what Raccer has said. I mean, he's seen single-handedly the explosion of AK-74Us made after he made his tutorial (which is a very good tutorial). I didn't understand why someone would just copy the tutorial pretty much 1:1 and then post it up asking for crits. That's not why the tutorial is made. I can…
@Ashervisalis Thank you for the feedback and encouragement. :) I found lighting the basement scene to be pretty tricky. Looking at it now, I see that I put too much weight into matching the concept art versus visibility in the engine. I’ll link the Google Drive folder where my art test is stored in my original post along…
HA! First thing I thought when Wikus did his little interview at the beginning was Murray from FOTC, all he needed to do was take role call and say his own name. It's probably because he's sort of buffoonish and the South African accent is sorta nasal-ish like a New Zealand accent. It was a great movie though, I preferred…
