GDC is actually a conference for developers. From what I understand, E3 and PAX are marketing expos meant for press moreso than devs. So unless you want to learn about X new game or X new console, GDC will be your better bet.
While I agree with almost everything Nerf Bat Ninja said above me, I kinda disagree with his first point (intro). I would maybe not write stuff like "I am a big fan! I think Telltale is mega great!" (especially exclamation marks, I only use them in rare cases in cover letters). The thing is, I might be wrong to generalize…

I am calling this one done, went a bit rough and fast on the texturing. A mock-up concept I did when I started with it. Ended up with 4,088 tri's 3 x 2k textures and 2 x 512 textures.
No, im sure the information is correct. It's just, you also have to account for min-spec PC and consoles so the fact that a reasonably good GFX card can push X amount of triangles in X amount of time wont help you when developing for multiple platforms.
Unfortunately there is no easy way to mirror animations. It's not impossible, but there's a lot of matrix involved. If the animation is simple enough you can copy and paste the x, y and z controllers in then scale the x or y values negative 100%. You're probably better off re-animating the opposite side.
what's up with the AAA elitism here? Good art is good art and good games are good games. Does it matter if it's AAA or mobile? Might as well make a graph "awesome games made with game engine X vs. shitty games made with game engine X".
No, it isn't. If you're fine doing something illegal, go for it, but if you NDA says not to show it it's that simple. Why not just make other art? if you're capable of producing work of X quality that belongs to company A, why not make art of X quality that belongs to you to show off?
I don't think you understand what he's getting at. There are a finite amount of resources available to company x and company y. company x produces a superior, more efficient product. Which company should get more resources? How should it be decided? How will they be provided?
reset X-forms on the low-poly model and rebake, if the transforms are off it can screw up your normals/bake. export your projection cage in the modifier first so you don't have to set up the cage again before you reset X-forms.
