I cant see why you keep hammering this Possible mip-map issue when you can hard code which mip-map to be use at what distance and if its a here character you wont have it on distance he will be more or less in the middle of your screen all the time , zooming in and out wont be sufficient for map swap -

A good trick might be bake an ambient occlusion map, not to use in itself, but as a guide in photoshop of where to shade and highlight. Your textures are good, but the objects all seem a bit flat, whereas really good handpainted stuff has depth to it. A bit more attention on the wood might not go amiss either......nice… -

What's the difference? Most games that do zero-player-control cinematics render them to a bink anyway, so that bugs introduced in development don't break the cinematics. My Steam profile says I've played 37-ish hours in the past two weeks, but less than half that is actually playing games. The rest is just screwing around in Hammer and level testing. I don't really play anything other than TF2 these days, and that's only when there's a scheduled game with some folks from CGTalk. -

That's quite a hammer! I would definitely agree with musashidan, the silhouette is one of the most important things when retopologizing a mesh. Thanks for the reply! The high poly had a pass through zbrush so the decimated models wireframe isn't so good. The pinching near the hammer is already fixed and the renders are actually just screenshots in the material editor of udk, but I will certainly take a look at this shader. You're right about the smoothing group… -
