your not painting any red, drag the colour wheel to red, and put the saturation to full. also if i recall, things start out white, so your going want to draw black first.

I'd be curious to see how it looks with expression posed closer to the reference, and glowing bloodshot eyes. The original Drow model she has this intense look because of her brow. with heavy eyelash and mascara+ shadow to to accentuate a comic book look. I think that style/ intensity of the character is getting a bit lost…

You can just draw the ztools into the canvas and using the tilda key ~ and alt+dragging will tile perfectly into the canvas. But for bricks, wood planks and other kind of pattern you don't have much control over it.
