I used to use Digital Tutors (now called Pluralsight). The digital tutors videos are probably outdated, but still hold relevant information. Also, when I started up Zbrush I just went and looked through all the options, and pressed all the buttons.

cant you just export image from acrobat pro? it exports numbered images with proper padding for double digit or triple digit sequences. http://grok.lsu.edu/article.aspx?articleid=7403 if you have multiple pdf files then you can combine all in acrobat, then export image.
well.. you can apply the digital signature to a digital ingame item, so it shows it like real item, i guess its like the killcounter on some items (strange weapons in tf2) but instead of kill numbers it says signed by (insert inoffical valve employername here) ^^
Canon Digital Rebel XT. I'd highly recommend something with at least 8 megapixels, and some manual controls. A digital SLR is probably your best bet. The Rebel XT is now a bargain, but if I had the money and didn't already have one, I'd probably go with a Nikon D70.
What software are you focusing on? If you have a PC with WIndows on it, you can download "Visual Studio Dev Essentials", which includes 3 months of Digital Tutors for free. Digital Tutors was great for helping me learn and understand the basics/fundamentals of texturing/modeling/everything else.
