For a first try you made a good start, I just believe there are a couple of things you cound improve on. Here are some examples. For the Tiles: - You should mask out the space between the tiles with an edge detect note. Right now this are is just plaint black. You should add noise to your normal map (fractle some base for…
[ QUOTE ] Oh my god a design mASSterpiece!!!! [/ QUOTE ] Toomas, about the only people in this country who drive Crown Vics are law enforcement officers . If you want an example of a cool American car, I'd say the new C6 Corvette Z06, the new Mustang GT (and the upcoming GT500), and the Saleen S7 are all great examples of…
Schools are happy to take money from you, but they don't guarantee they'll get all students a job. Those examples you posted is proof of that. Students can submit anything during class and a teacher has no choice but to pass it along. In reality, those renders are very far away from getting noticed by a professional…
Sure my version is messy, Im not going to take the time of an actual artwork just to demonstrate a point. Its a demonstration of examples put on an image, thats why it is cluttered (and because its badly executed) On a side note, I did not put much time in the descriptions, but theres a vast difference between a PDW and a…
If the concept and base model is done and locked, and nothing goes wrong, it would take 2 weeks. But very often we have to tweak models during the building, revisit the concept and design, change something for easier animation etc. I would say it's more often 3 weeks from concept to finished and working in game. Of course…
when you guys mention averaged cage, how do you go about doing that in max/maya? i dont think ive noticed a button that says average cage unless im an idiot and haven't seen that. i hope this isn't getting off topic but i ran my own tests when i was taking a break from work on thursday and ran these similar tests. then i…
Nice! I totally forgot about the Cross between the Normal Map and Aniso Direction. I have no idea what s_den is honestly...it adds about 9 extra instructions in my case and makes it darker for some reason. The only thing I'm worried about right now is how well something like this:…
Looking good man, I think its already 10x better than the old one. I would say play with adding some colored bands running horizontally through the rock. Mess with making a few custom brushes using squares rather then circles they can create some nice effects. And then maybe get rid of some of the smaller hairline cracks…
Well all I know is our water needed to flow from right to left to down to right and so on and those three colours in the examples given to us only did "up" and "down" whereas the colours I used gave me exactly what I needed. Either way it's not a big deal if there's a simpler way to do it, all I know is my method worked…
I'm not going to create a rock just to unwrap it and I don't have any examples sitting in front of me, if you wanted to post the mesh I could show you how I would stitch the pieces together to reduce the seams. But really it shouldn't matter how many seams you have when it comes to seam errors. even with a lot more seams…
