Hey Shinobik, and welcome to Polycount! You may want to post this up in the Pimping and Preview section of the forums where everyone shares their art so it'll get the attention it deserves. That said, I think you've done an AWESOME sci-fi take on Blizzards style.
I think this one was scrapped because it changed the color scheme drastically rather than because it was ripping off blizzard. But yeah, it also ripped it off almost 1:1 On the other hand, there's an original Sven's sword replica in the game, so it's probably not such a big deal.
We got an awesome lecture about color theory here at Blizzard, not so long ago. Itten: The Elements of Color [ame]http://www.amazon.com/Itten-Elements-Color-Johannes/dp/B000K10XSS[/ame] was the main reference during the whole talk. I HIGHLY recommend it.
Daarkan, a concept artist at Blizzard, should have his website live by the 11th as well. Don't get too caught up trying to figure out which tutorials to view just start drawing. http://enliighten.com/ Edit: This as well http://www.itchstudios.com/psg/art_tut.htm
I love the Blizzard games but the tickets always sell very, very quickly. If I knew there was a recruiting section at Blizzcon I would probably have been picking the internet apart to find a spare ticket! Maybe I'll try and head out there next year :)
I had this on my older desktop for a while(computer blew up). I do believe Blizzard made it, and intended it to be a WoW UI. I can't seem to find it on the WoW site, however I am sure theres people lurking around with the files somewhere.
props artist? same here. its kind of a niche too I've come to find out, so you're lucky to have a local and potential opportunity nearby. I know Blizzard is looking for background artists too... Sh*t, I shouldn't have said that!
An interesting interview with a talented environment artist. Mateusz from Level-Design.org recently interviewed fellow polycounter and Blizzard environment artist Thiago Klafke. Check out the full article here: http://level-design.org/?page_id=1055 Thanks to Mateusz for the heads up!
Hey all, I wanted to make something that could fit in a sci fi universe. Special thanks to Vitaly Bulgarov's Gnomon DVD which really helped me with proportions and hard surface stuff. Other inspirations were Blizzard's Marine Cinematic and Robotech. C&C always welcome.
hahah yea. The guy worked as a senior character artist at Blizzard for 7 years. I think he MIGHT have something valuable to say ;) sprinting?! more like strapping on a fucking jetpack :D good luck with your art journey!
