Whenever I import my items in dota workshop, the items are like 1/4th the size of original model. I keep the size equivalent to that of Valve reference files. I export as .fbx format with default settings. I'm pretty new with this stuff so any help would be appreciated.
ha ! No, it's still here. You can now load items in TF2 itself, but for fast checking, better use the model viewer. Haven't mess with export for a while. The "error loading model" is pretty vague. Does it work for a tf2 original item ? No error at compiling ?
BTW, I did a quick test and basically (if the models are rigged in the bind pose) you should be able to just import your custom items in FBX form and they should automatically bind themselves to the skeleton. Then you have a custom rig with custom items.
I think they're going for the item-highlight they had in deus ex, and the permanent highlight to signify usable objects. Since if you notice, only objects near reticule gets highlighted unless they're usable static items like ladders or doors.
OK I apologize. Apparently the items that need a gem to change the effect, override the items that have inmate particles and that's why your head piece overwrites the immortal tail. That means they can open a gem slot for this hook and it will overwrite the headpiece. my bad :)
It looks to me like you may have a lot of polys hidden in the joints. Are there items in the crotch area that aren't exposed in that image? I'd lose some details where it isn't as noticeable, like the joints. Not by taking out items, but by reducing the poly count.

Finished off my hat items and I wanted to make a weapons skin set to go with it. Got all day free today so I'm going to make a simple pattern for a few weapons that I think fit the character theme. Going to make a pattern based on my hat item.
So is this to protect their specific way of presenting items on their website? If that's true this patent will essentially mean that every other online store will have to shoot items against a non-white background, or substantially alter the camera and light placement. But this is bullshit and it'll get tossed at some…
I agree, the keyboard is always faster than the mouse. Besides, if you're using a particular item repeatedly, Blender always snaps the mouse to the last function used. So, if you're marking seams, the mouse will snap to that item until you select something else.
