Re: What exactly does average normals and set face do in Maya?
I was noticing that when I display vertex normals, at first they are green. Then when I do an average normal on the face, it turns yellow. What does it mean if it's green or yellow? Seems the different colors do something different to the shading a bit although the vertex normal stayed the same, it's just the color that… -

Basically his normal map expects the green channel to point the normal upwards, while 3dsmax expects it to point downwards, thats why i said he should flip the green channel. There is nothing wrong with the bake, but you should see that it doesn´t show it correctly because of 3dsmax´s behavior ;) -

I apologize if the images aren't the best, I don't have a lightbox (although I would like to build one...hmm weekend project!) The first one is the soft rubber coated MIAD version. Its color is foliage green. The second is the hard plastic MOE version. Its olive drab green. -

I have a couple gold stickers, a green sticker, a fridge magnet, and this little golden guy. Gifts from @r13 (thanks man). And a green sticker on the back of the car. Just to give you a sense of merch ideas. We'll talk about starting the store up again, I think it's time for another try! -

Also helps sometimes to use one of the Red, Green, or Blue color channels to start from. Like if the image is green leaves against a blue sky, then the red channel will have more contrast than the combined RGB image. Photoshop has a bunch of other methods too, like Select > Color Range, etc. -

Personnaly i prefer the full torso as it seems kinda weird when there's blank. I didn't have the chance to see when the lights were green, but i definitly miss some green areas since its zyra. For the comp my favorites are 1 & 4. -

This sounds fun. why not throw in an extra laptop that primarily shows the colour green, just to make sure you get the most accurate green in your work. nice opportunity to advertise manjaro KDE distro of GNU/Linux, not linux, don't you dare call it linux lest I break out the copypasta -

Excellent work! I'm impressed! My only suggestion would be to use a greater variety of hues in your diffuse textures. I mean, use more than just values of green for plants, get some blue and green on that plain brown barrel, put some color into those fabric stains in Chinatown, etc. -

Hey! thanks for the critics :D I want his brain to react as a light bulb, so the orange is there to put a fake glowing skin For the green part of the gauntlet, this is bronze oxydation, but i think i put to much green... not enough turquoise... I always struggle with color composition, I'm gonna rework on this :D -

starting to look real nice, vegetation blends together a lot better now :) I would maybe add some patches of grass here and there, grass always finds a way to grow :D maybe the vegetation is a little too blueish green compared to the ground? maybe tint it slightly towards a warmer yellow green.
