The overhead dome stuff reminds me a bit of a scene in the new call of duty if you have played it. There is a level that has a base below a fake forest and there is also sorts of cool structures and supports holding it up from what I remember might be a good place to look for inspiration.
I don't know if it's my computer but your images took forever to load. I would keep your first piece and get rid of the rest, because they're not showing anything relevant. Your Forest Tavern is cool but a bit too dark. I would brighten it a bit.
@RN Ooooh! Talk about missing the forest for the trees. I completely walked past that possibility! We're already in print on this piece but I can update it for future prints. Can you walk me through how you produced the shine? Powerful contrast is proving a challenge for me.
Thanks for the feedback guys, much appreciated! I'll be adding a waterfall to the right side of the scene, so if any of you know any good tuts, that would be awesome. I'll start by reverse engineering the waterfall in the forest package and go from there. Keep the comments/crits/questions coming, please! ^.^
Vig has totally a valid point here. The vegetation in the forest grows just over anything and you have a lotta moss and algae. This adds history to the environment. You will have full dry environment only in Egypt.Even Egypt had a lot of vegetation during their period i guess:) Vj
Hey guys, will be posting my new personal project here. So far a couple of days in, did a basic blockout and now refining the shapes! If you have any questions please ask! Concept (RIFTS NG Forester Power Armor by ChuckWalton): Some shots (You can clearly see at this point I am working on the upper parts):
Thanks for the feedback TomGT. Here I added some shadows but not very dark, I'm still unsure if I want to heighten the contrast or keep it subdued. For the time being I leave it as is while I go and work on the the background. Here I changed it again, into a forest scene. Tell me what you think.
Hey all, I've done a pretty bit update to my portfolio. I'll be working on a forest environment coming up. I'm wondering if you guys could give me a critique on what it's missing or what's not working (mix in a little praise so I don't end the day in tears haha). https://thomasfraser.artstation.com/
Started my first industry job a bit after my last post :D ! Haven't updated this guy in awhile on here but I've been hammering away slowly. Currently working on the texture pass and getting the colors down. I am going for a more grounded earthy feel to solidify the forest archer feel.
Nice value sketches... and entire thread. I personally like the layout of the forest path with the stairs from day 3. The little envs from Jan 7 are really cool too. Keep it up! I also really like your Calcifer, your Zbrush skills are looking sharp.
