Not to start the witchhunt, but I just lost my entire savegame on the PC. It looks like I am not the only one. I am not 100% sure if it's tied in with Games For Windows Live but I have my suspicions. I am quite upset :( , this is one of the few games I try to finish to 100% completion. What gives ?? -

You wont be able to paint the textures behind the decal onto the decal to make it fade away but you should be able to blend off the decal from showing to not showing. Example. White is 100% showing decal, black is 0% showing decal (ie 100% alphaed out) and then paint away parts you dont want. -

Create a material, Smart Material, or clean layer. CTRL+LMB drag the opacity to 0% on the Albedo channel. LMB drag it to 100% (this sets it to 0% on all other channels), switch to the Bump channel, and LMB drag its opacity to 100% as well. For smoothing groups, there's no easy way of doing that. For setting hard edges, it's a bit easier. Vertex Maps > Set Vertex Normals. Untick "Use Smoothing Angle" and set Smoothness to 100%. Then from UV tools, Select > Select UV Border. Then, from the Edge tools, Split Normals (or Geometry > Edge > Split Normals). Set… -

What I tend to do with reference images on planes is set up a material and key it so it goes from 0% opacity to 100% over 100 frames and apply that to whatever I'm modeling. Then I can just grab the slider and quickly scrub back and forth to go to whatever opacity I want with edged faces turned on. -

Lerp which takes the inputs of your two nodes or textures and a constant one vector with a value of 0.5 should do the trick. You can modify the constant one vector for how much you want to screen A value of 1 means that A is now 100% transparent/opaque and a value of 0 is B 100% opaque. -

Hey guys, A friend of mine is having a problem with his characters mesh in UT3. All of his edges appear as hard edges in UT3 and there doesn't seem to be much information on this problem. His edges are all 100% softened on export from Maya, and all seem to be 100% hardened when imported into UT3. Any ideas?
