From what I've heard, there are ways around that. I think a lot of people using the student version aren't actually students. You're welcome though, good luck with your new job
As a student, get student versions of course and you can give Blender a try as well. The Sculpting part is for sure not as good as zBrush but you can do some with it as well and basically everything else.
Are you struggling with the current tool set? If so, you should switch to some other to get your portfolio ready, (purchase is not necessary as you have stated that student license is free for students.)
Ok this has been amended, one member of our team has joined another student and will not be a part of this team. Only two students now remain in this team, we were not aware of this rule.

@Gikkio I'm pretty sure Substance painter and Designer have free student editions. I'm fairly certain you could get a license for either of those super easily even if you're not exactly a student.
I have this 5 pack student stuff too and made a crossgrade to commercial max2010. Now I wonder if i'm allowed to sell the student stuff on ebay or whereever whithout getting me or the buyer in trouble.
okay, you get student visa through language school, how do you work fulltime then? as far as i know, you can't work fulltime when you are a on student visa only parttime.
I definitely want to try it but it's a bit expensive for me as a student who is still fairly new to sculpting in general. I got Mudbox in a Autodesk Student Suite so I've mainly been learning the basics with that.
