@JadeEyePanda: This was all done in max....there is no sculpting yet. Basically it was just carefully building the topology so that the edges followed the direction I wanted the raised or inset areas to appear.....then either insetting or extruding and re-enforcing the edges. Very time consuming but I think it works best…
@JadeEyePanda - I haven't been given a limit but I'm just trying to limit myself to 25k max. @ZombieDawgs - Most of the polys are in the rims but the entire body hits around 8K The vehicle hasn't been completely modeled yet, there's a few more things to add in such as the interior of the vehicle.
JadeEyePanda ah I'm afraid I'm unfamiliar with it. I just felt that how they are implemented is a bit distracting. I think a smaller cluster of fireflies that are slightly less dazzling might fit better. However, I've not seen the movie so if that's an integral part then ignore me, haha!
Thanks Rhinokey & erroldynamic & Lucashug! JadeEyePanda - yeah, nanomesh does it. :) Here is a long winded explanation but please excuse the marketing and call to actions. The certification course is registering right now. Lessons are free, though. :) http://info.uartsy.com/zbrush-4r7-generative-art-lesson-jan2015.html
What JadeEyePanda is saying here is true. Sketch out your own concept first or take a look at other goblins from various movies/games. Having an idea of what you are going to sculpt helps a lot. That way you are finding forms through sculpting as opposed to blindly going at them.
You must go to the dagobah system. Also those mod communities like JadeEyePanda said... Skyrim etc. you have UDK and Cry for free too.... there are just endless resources you can pull from to get this done, no joke. Still, I would go to the dagobah system.
@JadeEyePanda - That helps. I was trying to understand by what you meant by thinking big. Now I see what you mean. @praetus - I followed RegulusAwesome advice and used the color picker to pick the color since I'm not experience in hand painting. The color was close to black/brown area that's why it appearing black.
Made this a while back, forgot about it until the other day when I saw all you guys with your gun folios....damn... So I dug it back out, high poly'ed it, and rendered. JadeEyePanda: I've requested that this thread be moved, didnt even realise there was that section - HOW 2 FORUM? Cheers!
I agree with JadeEyePanda, her skin should less glow, you can paint a sss map instead mto control the effect. I like the details of her armour, only crit point ... the dark parts looks a little bit like plastic, I would give the material a more defined gloss.
Also maybe think about toning down the DoF. It's difficult to assess the texture/material when only 1/3 of the model is in focus. Other than that, looks like a good start. Brings back good memories :) I agree with JadeEyePanda though, finish it out with all the bells and whistles, really make it shine.
