Yea I've had this happen to me a few times, drives me nuts. I normally the verts where in the right places but the edges and faces where all mixed up. If it wasn't too bad I would export/import to obj and it would freeze the problem and I could remove the faces and reconnect new ones. It seemed to happen when max would…
sometime i get wierd crashes while i'm modeling, and when I reopen the file it corrupts it (even with the autoback), and if i try making the same operation with an older version of the model it crashes, so at the end I have to export/import it into .3ds...
looks like it could come out well... you should definitely try to replicate that awesome pollen on the back side of it. Also... max autosaves every 5 minutes >.> can be found in your My Documents folder under MyDocuments/3dsmax/autoback
and if max crashes you can usually find an autoback file in the default max directory eg 3dsmax\autoback\autoback_01.max. You can set the frequency they are saved in the preferences. I have autoback's saved every 5 mins and have around 15 of them (they save sequentially). I learnt the hard way that Maya has no default…
That sounds like an ugly problem. Working from Vig's script, you can put the function inside a general event callback so that it runs automatically every time a file is opened. Save this code to a new text file named EnableAutoback.ms. And put it in the Max\Scripts\Startup folder. Like Vig said, feel free to change the…
Good call whats_true and Runner. Thanks for the comments guys. I'll try and get a break down up. I lost some stuff in a recent re-format. Mostly some Max stuff. I was using some autoback files since Max likes to crash.
hahahaha. man....i'm sorry. but that post for tech talk made me laugh. is your autoback disabled or something? ***hey, sorry to ask this. but does anyone know how to revert to a polycounters old profile? i'm supposed to be "fritz"....not "keizza". sorry....out of it....libbit sick.
some more WIP.. try and finsih tomorrow.. i was pretty close to finishing and Zbrush crashed...ZBRUSH NEEDS AUTOBACK!!!!!! too frustrated to start over again.. that big goofy tooth in the middle is going to be offset in the final piece.. when i do my asymmetry pass..
Hello, I ran into the same problem and couldn't figure it out. My solution was to simply not save it when the lights go crazy and reload previous saved version. Had to go into autoback a few times as well. Not really the solution you are looking for, but a work around I guess.
I like to think that there's being good at your software by circumventing all the quirks to soothe out a workflow and there's avoiding the things that make it crash to extract some productivity from it. Max is absolutely great with modeling and UVs and such but some of the simplest things make it crash. Thank god for…
