A hell yea for square circles method, it's much faster than boolean ops. ps: Shouldn't meshsmooth work the same in all applications? Multiplying by a power of 2 and averaging distances based on existing vertices...
Rock Bottom, You would need to do a little adjusting to get the overall curvature and 'diamonds' the way you want, but in Max here is one approach: (#2 should read ...twist, bend, and scale)
No problem. I didn't realize that you were capping the bottom as well. :) I've updated my OBJ with the extra edge that I originally deleted. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/57293298/111-2.obj
hmm, if i were trying to do wraps around a staff, i would start cutting extra loops around the staff geo. Then i'd do an edge "ring select" and "connect" them with 2 lines and adjust the spacing so they were close to the base loops. Take these 2 new edge loops and scale them out a bit. This would essentially be one "wrap".…
This is a handle to a pistol I've been working on tonight. In Maya, I can get a cylinder to twist with a nonlinear deformer, but getting that rounded cap attached, and having the opposite end open up into a rectangle, is a nightmare. The twist has 4 grooves, where 2 open up onto the left and right sides of the gun's body,…
hi , i just want to ask, about joining between 2 mesh which is cylinder and square part . i need a good polygon connection , can someone tell me how ? this is example of mine .
I am trying to do high poly modelling in 3ds max after 2 months. I'm trying to make this But idk how to progress to the high poly part... should I turbosmooth and support loop it?
My question what exactly you want to describe the top shape of this object? -->Is it circular or hexagonal? I mean the surface that 2 boxes extrude up from. See 2 cases below: * If it's hexagon, then logically there has to be pinch in transition between hex and circular. (IMO, It's about geometrical rule, where the angle…
The second one one the left is kinda easy too(at least in max) 1.Make geosphere icosaeder with 2 segments 2.Select all verts and save selection 3.Tesselate once 4.load vert selection and invert it 5.Turn every invisible Edge (6.Chamfer all edges a little bit if needed) And the first one on the right is kinda easy too: 1.…
Hello guys, I am working on an AK47 and I have a question about a particular part: the 'iron sights' (how do you call this part of the gun anyway?). http://users.telenet.be/kansloos/ak/iron1.jpg http://users.telenet.be/kansloos/ak/iron2.jpg Same image as the first one but added some numbers/colors.…
