@jourdan, Welcome to polycount! You can learn a lot around here.. so keep practicing Your model seems a bit highpoly. You use a lot of polygons in the cylindrical forms, which atleast could be reduced
I've been doing some practicing, but I still need to learn more about texturing. Anyway, this is a sword I've made. My painting skills are very bad so I rely on photos with manipulation and paintover.
some sweet stuff in here. practicing some stuff trying to figure out how to do people. (something im bad at) trying to mimic this style http://martyisnothere.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d3g9r20 Oh i almost forgot.
Some of my very first low-poly practice. I was watching Army of darkness when I started on it... does it show? :) 76Tris, and 1 diffuse map, at 512. I'll probably drop it down to 256 though.
my handpainted texture practice i did during a workshop week by Mighty Pea (lantern model (128²) door jeroen tavernier, treetrunk (128²) by Peter Paul Milkain and the bridge/surface (256²) and all the textures by me)
Doing some low poly mass effect characters, was for vgremix but don't have the time to do any more. Some good practice though Ashley is not done yet. All models are under 350 polys with 128x128 textures.
Too far, arrangemonk, you've surpassed humor and stumbled into doucherry. He already admitted fault and asked for advice, which is surprisingly humble for someone who got attacked for practically no reason. No need to keep making fun of him.
Apart from that, using tight budgets its the best way to practice, even for next gen games. This teaches you to be smart and not waste polygons in things that are not nesesary. Its a great place to learn and improve your modeling skills :)
Now that I have some more time at work I'm getting again started on those settler-like characters. I know I forgot the polycount (156 polys) and a wireframe, but it is more a texture practice than a modelling one.
A few months ago I practiced making a low-poly human male. I used various DS models as reference for the topology. It has a total of 224 triangles. I think I could go lower though. :D
