After practicing a bit, I couldn't resist remaking this sucker again (sorry). Gargoyle 2006 (Quake4) here we come. 3000 triangles (and yes I am getting better at modeling penis, i was quickly able to do his glans under there. yep ) (EDIT: Fixed image)
[ QUOTE ] Er - WHY did you hand paint the entire thing? It looks like you're trying for something realistic, yet it looks cartoony. If its meant to be of a cartoon look it doesn't look the part at all. It's in a weird middle ground that isn't very happy How long did this take you? If you're going for something more…
Just getting some more metal and wood texturing practice in. Haven't really painted many weapons or those materials before. Once again I didn't make the model, I just did the texture. This shot is just with a single 512x512 texture set to 100% self-illumination, default max lighting.
Here are a few things I have been working on. The first two are from the new game we are making, and the last one is a dude I did as practice. There are a few things about "maletest" that bug me, but I think I would make a new guy rather than fix him. Comments and crits?
chi - did you model the face? It might be easier practicing textures on something with more standard proportions. The eyes seem very wide. As for the skin; looks like you're only using the values of one color... its very monotone. Give it some red on the nose and cheeks, some blue/grey on his chin and lip, etc.
For last night's practice model I wanted to do something low end, very low. This also gave me an opportunity to play with more creative uv mapping. This character started as a riot police officer, ended up a golden knight. Anyway, all fun, silly stuff. :P 2-3 hours total.
Glad you like it, Ghost. It was just meant to be some quick practice, but I guess it's now a full blown WIP. A search for Froud just returns a bunch of long-dead fansites, so I'm not sure what direction you want me to take it in. Awesome concept, Mop! I like your color palette too.
Neox: This character keeps looking better and better. Can't wait to see it fully completed. Neo_God: That is highly disturbing. Great work. Darksun: I like what you've done with the hands. You could probably thicken the ears on him slightly. Aaaand another head. I'm sure you guys are getting sick of these but they're great…
[ QUOTE ] East, look on legs, i am adding loops only there, where could be details. [/ QUOTE ] Not sure I understand, but.. I'm just saying when making a mesh for ZBrush/Mudbox it's good practice to have square polygons everywhere. You never know when you want to start adding some finer surface texture into the mesh.
A bit of downtime at work and was sucking at starting a concept for a UT3 character, so I busted out BoBo's Brunt model and started up a texture. I really need the practice. Just nutting out the forms and shapes and seeing where things take me, then will add a colour pass. I will most likely attempt the entire model, not…
