absolutely amazing information there Haz! i really want to be a character artist, but with my heavy schedule its hard to practise.. or at least practise different things, but i think ill focus on 2d :) awesome tips and great concepting
Reminds me of westfall more than Bob Ross. Ross being a northwesterner loved mountains and evergreen trees, and I really don't see much resemblance? It's hard to say much else with so much of it place holder...
For the polycount gods: This thread should be stickied and placed as news bulletin on the main page. What a GREAT read. Good job fella's. I'm still putting my thoughts together to contribute (although not being in the biz makes it hard).
happened to me. just went dead that was it. lost a bunch of work. I tried what EQ said and I got a few files, but then it totally died. 1TB hard drives seem a bit fragile compared to older drives.
Nice explanation Mark!! Thats the issue with alphas. =\ It's either... A) DXT5 with Alpha Blend, looks great but is unlit (more expensive) B) DXT1 Opacity Mask, Hard edge can look shitty but can be lit and cast shadows
Beautiful stuff Jessica! It's kinda hard to give critique without seeing it applied since my knowledge of handpainted textures is very limited ^^ It looks like it would tile pretty well though, very nice choice of colors. :)
This is just.. Well, its hard to explain what my thoughts are on this. Its got the detail down to a tee. Its got the pose, its got everything. So there really isn't anything to judge on, but the only fact that its awesome.
If you are ok with just 128 megs, the 6600GT series should be fine. (Stay away from the gigabyte brand. The heatsink is held on by thermal tape vs a clamp and thermal paste method {I found out the hard way :/)
Thanks by dropping a word Korgoth. Yeah some brushwork is too ew :S hahahhahaha... super noisy and disturbingly strong. I'm trying hard to avoid such horrible marks :S and thank you by sharing your thoughts! :D
kinda hard to tell without seeing the normal map, but at first glance it looks like you've got your bump channel set to something other than tangent or world space (whatever one you might be using).
