Hey man! I didn't know you were on polycount. Anywho can't wait to see more of your stuff on here, like that freaking dragon. The polypaint on some of the back scales on your bust sculpt are really nice and you should keep them in mind when painting similar surfaces.
polycount wiki, here you go. lots of great stuff.http://wiki.polycount.com/CategoryCharacter your pipeline seams prety much how it works, sometimes you do the diffuse map directly on the high polygon model and bake that along with Normals and AO. pretty much everything is in the Wiki though, good luck :)
Always good to see a fellow Australian on polycount :) What school are you studying at? Character artists please correct me if i'm wrong but that shoulder topology may need a revisit otherwise you may get some trouble posing it. It just doesn't look right to me. http://wiki.polycount.com/ShoulderTopology
Nice stuff, I checked out your portfolio :) I really like your style, and your character designs are fun (and very sexy). I'm no pro on modeling, so I can't give too much help with a critique, but looks pretty good to me :) Good luck with it, and welcome to Polycount!
You dont have to make the normals map in ZB just because the polycount is high. I spose it depends on what your computer can handle. I know I cant get more than 2-3 million in maya on my aging computer. You could try Xnormal.
well the help of Zero on AIM he helped me fix a few things...not really much of an update...smaller head, new arm position (more natural), new gun pouch, new polycount (6172 from the original 6900) I'm tired and didn't make the wires with new renders, but here is this
The polycount is abit high at the moment, the baking-version is not fully optimised, when Im done with all the tweaks im gonna pull it down as far as I can without loosing too much shape. Right now its 19 k, im gonna pull it down to 16k, I think.
Don't have a solution, but suggest adding the software name in your title. You're more likely to get answers from people familiar with Maya, if you include Maya in the title. Hope this helps you. https://polycount.com/discussion/63361/information-about-polycount-new-member-introductions/p1#use
Thanks for the edit. That helps a lot! Most of the artists on Polycount are working in games not in film vfx. But this should shed some light on it. https://www.google.com/search?q=film+vfx+modeler specifically https://www.artstation.com/andrewhodgson/blog/87rj/making-a-modeling-reel-for-vfx but the other links there…
@Udjani - Thats a bug on polycount currently, introduced by the latest Vanilla update. It happens when you make a new line in your post. It basically makes 2 new lines. Check out the last post here: https://polycount.com/discussion/167852/bugs-we-got-em/p6#latest
