I've met this problem too in the past. What I do is something similar, and I'd argue it's more simple and direct. Yes, unfortunately the links are broken once you close down stuff. But...if you want to make some tweaks later, why don't you just import the specific obj to that old scene you saved? No need to import to a new…
Obj exporter in Max has an explicit option for this ( YZ-Flip ). On importing the uv mapped/edited obj, simply check the YZ flip option too, so that axis gets flipped back to 3ds Max's axis alignment again. For convenience, simply create a preset called "Headus UV" with that options enabled for import/and export . Simply…
Hi everyone, so this is my progress so far.. I hope you guys enjoy it and feel free to give me advices as this is my very first big project ! low poly first scene: Progress of first scene: progress and character on scene. I've complete the base mesh of the character on Zbrush, it was 12.666 points witch gave me a 900mb…
Just a guess but did you use animated keys to explode your mesh? If so, did you export as FBX rather than obj for xnormal? It's a pretty simple mistake but one that I made not long ago Only obj will preserve the exploded state, FBX will export the animation and will de-explode your mesh due to it being unexploded on the…
I'm guessing it's zbrush naming convention. It uses a hyphen instead of an underscore. You need to press alt+shift to use an underscore. Without an underscore SP will not bake by name. Also, as far as I know .obj doesn't respect the mesh names within the file. You can open an .obj with notepad and see what it has written…
Nice stuff. I like the fact that you've used so much less geometry than I have, but it still smooths accurately. Not sure about the Max question, I thought it had "Wavefront (obj)" in the export options by default. obj is just straight geometry/uv information, so you can open it in notepad (or just drag it into one) but if…
Thanks for the suggestion. However I have no problem using the single 32K*32K texture on the mesh modell. I have turned the display resolution to 200000, for both baked, texture maps, and viewport background, and the computer shows a quite crisp image in the viewport. (the computer is extremely fast) My problem is that…
Ok so this is how I ended up doing it. FBX wasn't working and just kept crashing so I went with OBJ and exported as tris since when i did it as quads my uvs got jacked up. Made sure that I exported the material library and opened up the objs in max 8. Imported the material library. Redid my lighting and I was done. Worked…
What other artists said is true and this is my little game experience I'm getting in these days. I'm using Blender since 2.49 and I only can say that they improving it more than other 3d applications. I'm working to a game project, waiting to go on with vfx career, and Blender does its job perfectly for our indie project,…
It has been a while. Didn't have much success so i took a break and did some other thing. But I'm back again. Decided to try a bit with a simple shape before I spent much more time sculpting highpolys. Here was my process. Made a simple boxy shape in 3DS Max and gave a small champher to the edges. Unwraped the object so…
