Personally I love the style choices they made for the movies. I always liked the comics and the TV cartoon, but I reckon they did a really good job converting and redesigning stuff for a more gritty, real-world feel as opposed to spandex and chrome everywhere (apart from Patrick Stewart's head!).
Quick Update, So, I've decided to get the shell of the smart car modelled first, and then plan to go in and create the robot. I have been watching transformers prime cartoon series to help give some ideas how the robot should look, as well as buying a few transformers toys.
I think it'll be easier to read it once you've done a bit more texturing on it. My 2 cents... a model like this deserves a texture job with some grit to it, some realism and less cartoon. I think it needs to scream 'BEEN THRU THE SHIT' if a tank were to scream such things.
The cartoon still has underlying anatomy beneath all the weird proportions. For instance, take a good look at your shouldes. While the shirt hides them, you can tell his arms still end up in his shoulders, whereas your arms seem to end somewhere else.
I liked the 2nd picture in the original with the bright green. It look like stylized, but not cartoon like many other games. In its current state some ambient occlusion or stronger lighting would be nice. Your fern/ground plants have no curvature to their leaves/branches, so they look unnatural.
Oooh, I love Tull! All of there work, literally. I really like "Strip Cartoon" by Jethro Tull, so that is one.. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JA0QALqTw40[/ame] and maybe.... "Life is a Pigsty" by Morrissey.. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1iJzOSV0rJ0[/ame] Great songs...
i have an 09 jetta as well. it seems like they wanted the "lowest common denominator" look to the new jetta. its absolutely as bland as a car can possibly get. i mean. if you were making a cartoon and needed a generic car, thats probably what it would look like.
@Fluor - Your bunny is looking very cute! It has a nice cartoon feel, but still has a lot of great highlights and detail. EDIT: Haha internet cut out yesterday. Sorry for the cut-off sentence. Alright, school is ramping up again so I'm gonna call this finished.
Hey Gallamaji, I feel like if you enjoy making low poly and cartoony assets and environments definitely put that on your portfolio. I don't think it's bad to have some realistic stuff on your portfolio, but if you do it wouldn't hurt to have it divided between cartoon & realistic.
Wow! :D Thanks for the feedback guys! ;) You´re completely right with mos of the critics, thank you very much! Torch: About the color in the face I´ll definetly tweak it a bit. About the eyes... I don´t know to be honest, I know they´re big, but that´s the point isn´t it? I mean it is a cartoon version of War, I made it on…
