@dpaynter26: thanks! @Ignacio_G: Thanks! My high poly workflow is pretty standard. I modeled everything in 3ds max max and did bakes in 3ds max, too. I do plan on using nDo2, and maybe dDo whn it comes out, but for not i'm sticking to old fashioned poly modeling. Also, as you can notice, i have a some floating geo in my…
Okay, so I have basically been working lightly this week to adjust my low poly models. Each one came in at roughly 400-500 polys. After I unwrapped them I moved to get a nice layout on the combined UVWs and throw on the source as a texture. So this is what I got. Yes I just basically tried to mirror the images and you can…
Qantm doesn't do hecs though, they do fee-help which, for memory, was terrible in comparison (with fee-help you'd have to pay back an extra 15% or something, which would've made the qantm course ~50k for two years). Not sure about any others. I decided to do a non game-related degree at a uni that does hecs while doing…
I'm going to talk a bunch about Level-of-Detail because I'm up waiting for a GDC flight. silly me. Documentation for your game should have the technical specs for LOD laid out. If not, documenting it would be great. Diminishing returns. You can only create lower LOD steps before they use more memory than not using them at…
Add some weight, to make it look more natural, now it looks empty, or like there's no gravity. Also it looks like a new one, never used. Polycount seems quite high for such object (I mean it looks like 400-500tris maximum). Besides above, it looks good. :)
Hello, I have a problem with the "save", when I try to save in .obj, the obj never finish to save. If i wait 10min, the obj file is still saving and is about 2Go+. Did I fail something with the installation? My high poly is about 50k poly and the low is about 2k. I am using win7. I tried with other props and it seems to…
What are you trying to render? Tricks: Don't use a lot of lights. Learn to use lighting correctly. Reduce your texture to sizes that are specific to your rendering sizes. What i mean is If you are rendering the front of a house which takes up 1/4 of the screen and you're rendering at 1024x768. The texture doesn't need to…

British university fees have jumped for students starting September 2012 from the $5000 per annum that I'm paying to $15,000 per annum. So apparently more students are starting to look at studying in America now that the prices are getting closer. Poor guys
Finals have come and gone! I'm still winding down. Here's what I turned in: (my udk crashed at 2am and i hadn't been saving my package... :( ) I wasted a lot of time with my UVs and they came out pretty bad in the end. :I I gave a lot of space to dumb stuff and then all the large important bits got left out. Not to mention…
