http://vimeo.com/10941211 I think this is standard fare for any hardsurface modeler. You actually can't go wrong with just practicing some of the shapes he makes, no matter which 3D program you use. As for highpoly - don't go into too much subdivision too soon.
i seem to collect these without even trying.... (i hate diet coke, by the way, but when we run out of diet dr pepper, i hit my dad's stash of sodas til the fridge is full again) i'll get a photo of my shotglass collection soon..
In my opinion, you're thinking too small, too soon. Worry about the overall picture before you worry about things like little bumps. You need to think about how close you're going to get to the tank, and focus on getting that looking good first.
the type of athlete I was going for when making this guy was the kinda of defensive football player, big guy, muscular but also lots of fat I agree the armor is rather bland right now, i need to add some detail to it. I'll upload some pics soon of progress.
Hey there Paul, i love the idea bout the button sheild, my son wants a warhammer type sword but perhaps it will have to become a needle and thread to go with the sheild. Also thanks for the other crits, very helpfull and use them as soon as i can get back to this :). tim
Cheers both of you, soon as im back from my holiday Ill probaly beef another 500 tris onto him for fur and loops, planning to do plenty animation with him . then probaly another 1k tris on armour and wepons then whatever is left probaly on misc stuff..
Very cool , "de-erode 500k years" sounds like fun indeed :). I haven't been to the exhibition yet but i'm going to soon, must be impressive on a panoramic screen, and at OGR must be interesting too , i've seen the previz. video on your Vimeo page , great stuff .
I wouldn't call PlanetSide laughable by any measure. But yeah, hopefully W40k will show up soon enough as an MMOFPS (really, the whole MMORPG genre is feeling a bit stretched thin..). We are probably at a point where a good MMOFPS is really doable, and the W40k setting would be perfect for it.
I appreciate all the feedback guys! A lot of really good points and suggestions you guys made. I got caught up with other things but will be able to work on this again pretty soon. I'll make sure to hit all the points you guys posted on the next updates!
Thanks a lot for replying, It is a Netflix series, and regarding rendering, I don't have an idea if the series and animations are all rendered inside Maya itself or they use another rendering engine. I will update the thread as soon as I'll have a meeting with the team and I'll get some details on the subject.
