thanks for the info, the resolution is the maximum it will most likely be viewed at, starting here and moving down I think is better than starting low and scaling it up, I was planning on using the liquid feature of dreamweaver (think its what its called and that it does what I need) where it will be a percentage of the…
The outer UVs...? You mean the edges at the sides inside the shell...? I've gotta be honest, I can't say I'm a fan of the whole straightening process. I get the reasoning for it, but there's just something about having clean shells that show white instead of red or blue with the distortion checker that feels more natural…
Actually the metal parts are "ceramite" which is a mix out of metal and ceramics (don't look at me, I didn't make that up!) that forms a super hard shell for these battle-suits; that's also why there are no really hard edges and strong/er lights/shades on it - it's not intended to be very reflective as it's pretty much…
Anisotropy typically uses the tangents of the model to influence the stretch direction. Tangents are influenced heavily by the uv, so I would recommend redoing your uv to be one contiguous shell.
this is one of the funniest/ wrongest jokes I have ever heard I hope it isnt too offensive man is rung by the hospital to inform him that his wife has been in a terrible accident, after putting down his phone he rushes to the hospital, a doctor meets him and tells him to sit down. He begins to swell up almost crying. Man:…
Thanks Eric. I see . With "camera" i mostly meant a special "baking camera" Arnold had in 3d max when it was free plugin . I think around 2015-2017 . I am still trying to get same options like rays coming through alpha clipped planes with BTT . So far I get it but with artifacts even after setting zero padding . Looks like…
If these sections created by a Shell modifier are their own UV islands/shells you can select faces by UV shell in Maya and quickly delete them. Max probably has a similar operation. It's still somewhat manual but selecting entire shells is a one-click operation. If the polygons are thin enough (the polygons that are…
Subdivision sketch: seams on softgoods. This is a quick look at blocking out linear details on softgoods, before sculpting the surface details. Use basic subdivision modeling strategies to block out the larger shapes then place key edge loops around the seams on the fabric shell. Shrink down the middle support loops to…
It kinda looks like you've got too many seams, for example the bevel on the from of the gun seems to be its own shell? Have you tried having larger UV shells, only making seams at 90 degree angles and above? You seem to have lots and lots of tiny shells which will be a pain to pack and texture. For me (just looking from…
I have moved over to Max after using Maya for like 6 years and so far I don't really understand why people say it's the superior 3d package - even when just looking at modelling. The modifier stack which is supposed to be the spine of this "kickass modelling" everyone is talking about, is only marginally better than Maya's…
