Nothing's wrong with Modo, I'm sure most would agree It's really awesome actually. I just wouldn't put it in the cheap category, at ~$1000 Modo is not cheap. Affordable maybe, cheap compared to the ~$4000 you'd have to spend to get a professional license of Max or Maya, you betcha. Still though ~$1000 is not cheap… -

pixelmasher, i tried this. dont you have to set your light to cast composite shadows as well? if you do that, doesnt it make the light dynamic? it did for me anyway, and i couldnt get any shadow bakes out of it. -

I agree with PixelMasher, I have had a bunch of friends work at a studio and on the side do contract work for extra cash..however, it was very "dont ask dont tell" Seems like a good opportunity for you to me. Having that contract work on the side at home will ensure that you actually do 3d work at home when youre off work…
