Small update for the project. I completed the basic layout of the area, from start to finish. @emptyslot really nice characters and textures there but the UV layout on the house looks really unoptimised and could do with some work to maximise layout.
For mechanical bust: If you have a beast of a PC and do not think you need to learn proper uv layouts since you will probably apply for texture artist / ?general 3D artist positions? You could do the quick lazy method of just clicking unwrap all <- for the low poly version and letting zbrush do all the work for you then…
Thanks for the feed back. I think from reading these I need to find a larger layout so I don't need to use thumbnails. That will reduce the amount of clicking that people seem to feel is too much. Yeah, a finished UV Layout of the wall would clear up a lot. It just doesn't seem efficient to layout the walls of a building as apposed to using a 512x512 tiling texture.
