added net to the retro pixel part and a dark, night forest to the background. the concept is now visible and the skin has now the main idea finished - need much more work on the details and textures still.
To start I chose two different art styles that I could use for the creature: the beauty of god of the forest from Princess Mononoke and Guillermo del Toro creatures style.
The first style of the den: ^this style I went for mountain look. I'm still making a forest den concept. The reference I used was near the river on the league game map.
early idea sketch for the next courier - a pipe playing forest faun type Any thoughts, suggestions etc are welcome - want to know i'm on the right track before committing!
@man_o_mule there's a blue tint of lighting during the first scene where they were introduced. they're suppose to be yellow/green color by default i think? as camouflage for their jungle/forest habitat
This is my first ever attempt at creating a game environment, and also the first time I've ever created foliage. This environment is based off of / inspired by the forest pond area in Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life. The initial model of the tree was also based off of a drawing by Oleksandra Pulinets on ArtStation.
I'm a big fan of the ghibli films, that's a nice idea for a project. Another tip for you is to make your house smaller and surrounded by lots of trees like on those concepts, they give a feel of a dense and wild forest.
I got inspired by the fable of "Bearskin" to make a character. My idea is he's an old knight who wanders the forest. Most of it was modeled in Blender then imported into 3ds max. This is what I have so far. Next step is Zbrush. after the model is done
I would use substance designer. https://80.lv/articles/forest-ground-substance-breakdown/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1s_H3qAzlk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlwGm3cW6dM
What about a forest, a cabin, 2 weapons, and a shitload of samey looking zombies trying to kill the player. Heck that might just be small enough to be doable, and when it's that small, it's easier to polish.
