He doesn't go into modeling the trim normal maps or making the textures themselves, but his focus here is on what sorts of textures you need, how to use them, and how to model your assets to make the best use of them. @Tectonic Thanks again, I'll check on that. A friend of mine extracted some models of the game and he sent me the Mega Gnar one. I took it directly as a ref in maya, flat shaded, but I now realize the highlights seem burned... I should have stuck with this refboard maybe. Anyway there's a lot of things to tweak now :)… -

diagonals usually need a lot more resolution to look just as nice as a straight piece. just because of the way diagonal pixellines with antialiasing work. so i would suggest you make it straight, a 2:1 or 1:2 texture possibly should do in this case -

Ok after along break. ( I was finishing off an indie game with Pixelante Games Studios) I've come back to this. I worked out almost all the little glitches (I just have some clean-up to do in photoshop) Next I 'm going to figure out the colour scheme, I'll do some moch-ups soon. -

Hey Sareth! Good luck for the future. Here's some programs you should look into learning; Maya (as you've already started) for modeling, rigging, animation ZBrush for sculpting (the sooner you start this, the better) Substance Designer & Substance Painter for texturing realism OR Photoshop if you're not going to be focused… -

I think there is too much contrast in the textures. It seems like it may be that your AO is too harsh, but it could be the normals as well. The areas between each stone piece and the texture of the stone surfaces have too much shadow and noise, and same with the wood. I also agree with pixelpatron about the roof. Good…
