Came too my mind as I read your post i.e. Technical Artist (TA) http://ericchadwick.com/img/techart_guidelines.html http://wiki.polycount.com/wiki/Technical_Art ...and a CG coding background certainly offers other pipeline pathways a visual artist will normally not walk down. -

You could optimise that head model a lot more if it's not going to animate and only be seen from a distance. For example, why do you have such tight and detailed loops around the eyes? Same with the lips... and as EricChadwick pointed out the edges aren't being used in very natural directions to complement the structure of… -

Anyway ErichWK I apprecieate your shmup-fan angle of view, I didnt looked at it that way, the UI pops out too much I guess, but I always liked UI in Tyrian and havent the problem with focusing on the gameplay… -

thanks guys =) @ ErichWK yeah this silhouette is part of the design, he has even larger shoulders on the original concept, i had to shrink them a bit.
