I've been in baking hell myself on occasion....so many different things can trip you up, but I think I have the hang of it now. If you want to host the meshes on a dropbox or email them to me at pixelpatron@live.com I can take a stab at what's up with it. What are you using to bake? It's probably best to split it up, but…
i dunno about environment artist. Recently there was the polycount awards and one of the winners is Josh Lynch (i think is the name) and he's an enviro artist. I think he has some kind of training or mentorship going on. Tim Simpson (aka pixelmasher) is starting to put out a lot of tutorial content for enviro artist. Also…
@PixelMasher Sorry for the late reply! Got a bit side tracked. You're right. Going to keep my nose to the grindstone till I have more completed characters.
Sorry, probably need to clarify, I'm referring to all the little glowing pieces as being too busy. They look cool on the individual assets, but when you combine all those bits into a scene, it becomes visual noise. It is much less apparent the brighter the scene gets, I don't mind them so much in PixelMasher's paintover.…
Hey Pennywise, nice start so far, I think you might be making more work for yourself than you need to with such a symmetrical design. You could take just a quarter of that texture and tile it. There are multiple ways of making textures using Zbrush, hopefully at least one of these links will help you out: This series of…
Thanks for the responses everyone. Scale: The barrels were simply too large, I scaled them up on import. The doorway was technically the size of an interior doorway, but it was a bit small for my needs so have largened that as well. Now edited back to normal, the scale is actually correct, and have a character sitting in…
lotet: Thanks man! Yeah Lords is pretty cool, if you like Dark Souls it's essentially a copy of that. Most of their characters seem rather beefy. slosh: You bet pixelpatron: Yeah, it might be a bit extreme. I'm going to bake it down and see how much detail the normal blurring in the skin shader kills...then might scale…
I'm with PixelMasher on this. I think they tossed you into the action without knowing the people, as if you're one of the soldiers alongside them. As the story progresses, we're learning more and more about the soldiers it's based on and it's becoming whole.
