Direct X 8.1? The 4MX is a DX7.0 card, to qualify as DX8 it needs shaders and 8.1 would need PS1.4 support AFAIK (which is the minimum requirement for BF2).
The viewport in 801 is not physically based and the viewport in 901 is almost physically based (GTR not far from GGX). There is no way to match 801 to the 3do render. Your best bet is to use marmoset.
It should do, yes. I've tested it with 801 and 901. Warren was having issues with it in 801 (that I can't repro here) so any issues there let me know :)

Hi Ghostblades! Sorry to hear about your troubles! This might be due to some of windows 8.1 "safety features" its hard to say. dDo legacy should run on widnows 8.1 so if you could try to find if windows is somehow "Blocking" the suite it could sort out your problem!
Just a quick heads up. If you're a student, you can get Windows 8.1 professional for $70. With Start8 or Classic Start installed, you never have to look at the Metro UI. I've found 8.1 to be a bit quicker in all areas, and have not had any compatibility problems.
Did switching to Windows 8.1 solve your issue? I guess I might try switching to OpenGL to resolve this for the time being. Windows 8.1 isn't an option for us at this time. Also, how are you guys getting .gifs on this? I had to have a second pair of hands to screen capture my problem:
