Yea loving the work you've packed into this. Keep up the awesome work! About Ivy generators, I've seen very mixed results with them for games. They work ok if you plan to bake the ivy into a texture and stay pretty far away from it, it works better if its dead ivy with very few leaves and mostly just vines. They don't do a…
And if you haven't already, reboot. If that doesn't, rename 3dsmax.ini to something else (like 3dsmax.ini.bak, or just 3dsmax.bak) and see if that fixes it.
I don't remember the answer but I recall reading of someone else having and fixing the problem on these boards in the not too distant past edit: it didn't involve someone elses monotor found.courtesy of rhinokey: ok heres a quick fix for this problem ,and it also fixes lost photoshop windows, 1.in max press m to pop up the…
here you got a quick example, of what you could achieve with procedurals: http://www.neilblevins.com/cg_education/vertex_map_wear/vertex_map_wear.htm http://saschahenrichs.blogspot.com/2009/02/procedural-concrete-material-xx.html http://saschahenrichs.blogspot.com/2009/01/procedural-materials-in-3dsmax.html
Hello Peter, Welcome to Polycount. Well there are tons of videos / tutorials out on the web that sometimes feels a little overwhelming and can lead to confusion because different artists develop different techniques to reach the same result. I can tell you from my method of learning 3ds max (and modeling in general since I…
I recently had issues with the UV mapper as well actually yesterday I never ran into this one but for my issue the solution was to not keep objects separated that I wanted to have on single unwrap. Hope you sort out your situation someone told me to delete the 3dsmax.ini file EkK I did It but eh It didn't work for me.…
The "plane method" could be referring to edge extrusion from a single place as r_fletch_r described, or it could also be the method where you create the face in the front view and then proceed to pull things back in the side view to give it depth. Both involve planes. That's why we don't know which method you mean. Here…
Okay man, like i said in waywo, i think the spec is the problem here. There is WAY too little contrast in it. There's more contrast in the diffuse (which makes no sense for metals) at the moment. Right now i think you've got it kindof backwards -- your diffuse is holding most of the data, and your specular is hanging out…
delete your 3dsmax.ini file (or rename the extension to something clever, like .bak, .old, .wtf, .gay, .etc). that contains all your preferences and non-default settings.
