Hey man, i got the chance to download this and see the shader in action and i must say it's really cool :) the glow effect on the model looks really cool. and the SSS on the face looks fine as well :) Hope to see some more shaders from you.
thanks guys. i've just about got his skull done. i'll post a look tomorrow. if anybody's got any ideas on how they might approach texturing a beast whose pretty much in need of a realtime sss solution. let 'em fly .
Hey dude, it's the 'WaxPreview SSS' feature that can be enabled under Render in the zbrush main menu.. You need to have 'Shadows' enabled by default for it to work. It only works with the Basic Materials. Check it out here -- http://docs.pixologic.com/reference-guide/render/preview-wax/
i just make a test with different material id and it's works but i don't want to use multi/sub material because that doesn't work quite well with SSS. So i need to find an other solution that's why i tested the composite map solution.
Actually with leaves i've found that it can look better to just turn culling off, leaves will get a good amount of SSS and have light the bounces around in them, so harsh lighting dosent look as good as you would think, atleast in our engine.
yeah, i thought this would be some sort of realtime SSS, rorshach. Wow, i thought you picked up some modelleres from somewher for this game. Guess its time that i get into the industry instead of studing to learn all the stuff, like "by the way"
This might not be exactly what you're looking for, but in terms of having local backups I like to use Bvckup2 (https://bvckup2.com/). It's perpetual software, data is saved to your chosen destination (I use a separate portable & encrypted SSD to backup all my personal files, but local network servers might work too),…
"Is there a platform that is thriving you'd recommend?" Only forum can think of that's been around from a similar CG art perspective - vintage is BA?! but these days noticed imo a shift toward some sort of acrimonious 'vibe' creeping in there, just via few recent incidents I'd experienced so hardly visit other than…
Thanks! @Soldier63 The most important thing is to find some good base textures. Then I set up some really basic PBR shaders for most of the materials and SSS shaders for the blanket, lamp shade, and the flowers. Here's some breakdowns, hope you'll enjoy them!
Thx everyone! still plodding along, we changed our release date, so i have a bit more time to finish more stuff up! hmm interesting bal. might be a cool FX SSS gif. Bathoryn turns up at Hagathas Cottage!
