Looks good. But I expect it'll fail. The trouble I have with all the recent "Sci-fi/fantasy/graphic novel" movies is that they have to make everything scientifically explainable so our feeble minds can comprehend it and the film can appeal to a larger audience. (I think the trend started with the first Xmen film). This…
personally, I want a majority of my games to offer something I don't see in real life every day. there's lots of fantasty and sci fi out there, but as long as some of them are somewhat original within those boundaries I'm fine. I see plenty of real-lifey stuff too, so, whatever. There's other avenues that aren't explored…
Hey Jeff, fantastic post - tks for all the research and time you put into it :) That being said, here's my own addition to the list. Welcome to my latest Gumroad Master Fantasy Illustration Series Based on Kings Harem, a work over 6 months in the making. Part 1 includes a bonus 2 hour advanced visual storytelling lecture…
Yeah is most ways Skyward Sword was a big letdown. I'm really hoping they can pull through with a great game this time. Though from the sound of things it won't be out until over a year from now. The rest of Nintendo's offerings seem pretty nice though that are coming out sooner. Maybe Monolith Soft can help the Zelda team…
I do read fantasy a bit too much but the sketchbooks i fill from these are worth it. Visual library for the win. I've polished off a few book series this year already: - The first law series - - Very dark and grimy fantasy taking the idea of heros and really fucking with it. Ends justify the means and progress has a…
Something ive been playing Recently Ys, Ys is a PC ARPG and honestly Ys origin on Steam is easily one of my top 10 ever played games on PC. think zelda with more focus on the gameplay. it can be a tad wordy which i dont mind but teh actual gameplay is tight and a great mix of Action and platforming that works insanely…
because otherwise making a fantastical creature just becomes an excuse to not have correct anatomy or design. Even if something is meant to be outlandish or mythical it should still follow certain rules so that it may be believable. Skeletal and muscle structures are formed certain ways because it -works-. Nature didnt…
Hey guys. This is my first project in UDK, aimed towards my main (and also first) portfolio environment art piece. Latest version: Here's concept art (WIP actually) I did: And a more fantasy creature: It's inspired by the story of Dick Proeneke, supposed to be a very natural scene, fairly realistic (obviously the animal is…
Sounds like the Eloi from "The Time Machine". Only without the magic... and yours has less flesh-eating Morlocks. Ruins have always appealed to me from a visual standpoint. I prefer my games/environments to be fantastic. Something unlike current realistic urban reality. Fantasy or Sci-Fi...either way. I think underwater…
Been a bit late on these updates, just been a lot of IRL stuff to do. I'm scrapping the old iron automaton design in favour of something more simple, grounded, and less high fantasy. With modular cosmetics, a similar appearance can be obtained later in-game. Have a great week!
