There should be a frame limit option. That will slow it down to 30fps I believe. There's also a cheat code for slow gameplay. Just type it while playing: LIYOAAY
The fact hypershade is slow is due to the time it needs to load all the materials, preview..It's always been slow.. but with 2011 it appears slower..sigh.. However I didn't notice sluggish in other aspect...The select tools, move tools settings which used to be slow is now more reasonable.
i think that at the time i was trying to use landscape splines i was working on a computer that was a bit under recommended hardware specs, so that was likely the major reason it was slow and buggy for me. Haven't done it now that I have machine that's above recommendations
I think it is looking pretty awesome. I agree, make the bounce a little higher. Don't hesitate to push those slow ins and slow outs a bit more as well as the anticipation of the ball falling backward on him after he picks it up.
