McGreed: Yes but Mudbox's/Zbrushs workflows and tools are much more polished and production ready. lots of stuff in 3DC feels awkward and thrown together by comparison. I personally think 3DC isnt going to change any games until the development focuses on making the existing features cohesive and stable. At the moment you…
I also managed to find this link about the G-Can project. Google was nice enough to translate it for me, so it may not be 100% readible but might answer a few questions? http://translate.google.com/translate?hl...%3Doff%26sa%3DG Also managed to translate the G-Can Project site: Hopefully it will make a bit more sense. It…
Hi, folks. I work two jobs. I am a background actor...meaning I am an extra. And I am a manager at a small clothing store in a ghetto area in Inland Empire, So Cal. I usually spend 12 hours plus 1 hour lunch time and 2 hour commuting time on the set. And I usually work 3~4 days a week as an extra. And as a store manager I…
I think the order here is backwards here. You unwrap first, then set hard edges to match up with UV edges - this varies based on your unwrap. For something this simple in geometry, you could also chamfer all edges and keep it as one smoothing group - but the vert normals need custom weights. For the normal map, yeah I…
Hi there again 3DC experts. How does one disable the behavior consisting of the app switching back to the previous tool when one hits a tool hotkey if/when the desired tool is already selected ? As discussed here in this (unsolved) thread on the official forums, with the user mentionning that under some circumstances,…
Yea, they author and and export at 16bit with a highly optimised 3Dc/BC5 encoder, which is much cleaner than DXT1/5 or the BC5/3Dc encoder that is currently available in UDK. I'm just hoping for the ability to import 16bit maps and use a similar or identical compression inside UE seeing as we don't have a tool like CryTiff…
Yeah, it helps to hide tiling but it's also more work to paint. A suggestion would be to paint a nice modest size texture and then duplicate it 3 times to take your 512 texture to a 1024. Then you modify those enough to be unique and then you've saved yourself a bunch of time. I also suggest you try working in 3DCoat /…
Hey Iron that's funny, I tried something very similar a few minutes ago. I split up a character mesh in different body parts and imported them in 3DC as an obj, hoping to be able to get easy proportion variants out of this kit inside of 3DCoat itself. However I realize now that it is a lot easier to go 'the yoshi way' ie…

HA!:poly142: Seriously though... I use 3DC and tried this new feature. It's ok, but if you're going to buy 3DC, get it for everything, not just this. Andrew's updates are always useful - from proxie modes that save ram, to UV unwrapping, to everything else. This is how you keep the users happy and make money - frequent…
