As long as you get rid of 5 sided (or higher) polies, you should be okay. Tris are okay if you place them well. I try to keep them away from shoulder and hip deformations, but they are fine on elbows and knees. Make sure that you keep the tris the same scale as the quads around it. Don't make more that 6+ edged stars…
To clarify I would like to take a cube that is say 10 x 2 and duplicate it so everytime it gets one unit wider. So next cube would be 11x2 then 12x2. So at the end I'll have a basic staircase that goes from smaller step to larger. (Or opposite) So using the duplicate multiple options I can get the "steps" to incrementally…
Not sure if you went ahead for the 2nd part of it? It's good to see you tried, here's my feedback: 1 - The shapes you did are very rough, they show too much brushing everywhere, did you apply the noise? You could try trimming down a bit more and make the rock appear a bit more smooth like the reference. 2 - Your slates…
There are some good base meshes here, to either start with or learn from: http://wiki.polycount.com/BaseMesh "basemesh_arshlevon_toes.obj " is a very good one to study. You're not thattttt far off here. The main problems is see are: #1 Proportions(could be fixed in mudbox) #2 Lots of long thin quads instead of the more…
Not bad, but it needs bigger and more prominent diagonal supports to stop the tower from toppling over in a breeze, especially considering it appears to have wooden foundation blocks. you got the right idea with the corner supports, but those need to be bigger. like these pylons. Farcry 1 guard towers come to mind, but i…
1. You don't need to. 2. My gut feeling is sticking to and learning from an online subscription course is probably a better idea, while as well, going to a local fine arts school or atelier to learn your foundational drawing skills (Stil Life, Figure Drawing, etc.). Good 3D artists can become great with strong…
Possibly from the obj import settings or maybe the way it was exported? I'm not sure if those are inside out, some look to be gradients? If you click the object, then right click and turn on back face culling do they disappear? If that's the case then you need to flip them either in edit poly > poly mode > select and flip.…
What a bizarre combination. First they decide to make a movie that combines cowboys and ninjas, now cowboys and alien marauders? Looks like it might end up being a bit campy, but I'm still on board for it. I like Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford, they both have very leathery, weathered faces. I think they would both make for…
1. Put this to new unity's javascript file and name it "SimpleBullet" (it is directly from AngryBots example project) 2. Add it to your bullet prefab #pragma strictvar speed : float = 10;var lifeTime : float = 0.5;var dist : float = 10000;private var spawnTime : float = 0.0;private var tr : Transform;function OnEnable ()…
Oh sorry, I wasn't clear. I agree with OP that it's a problem, and any of his solutions would work (I don't have enough experience to predict which one will be the most popular). I was just replying to a poster who suggested other industries face the same problems. My point was the problem is MUCH more severe in the gaming…
