Oh I know I have had a good look on google I just wondered what people better than me have used! Thanks for the links, the sculptures are a touch out of my price range but i'll definitely look into the books. Rey Bustos' site is exactly the sort of thing I was looking for, thanks man!
A major benefit Zbrush has over traditional character clay sculpting is in armature workflow. Miscalculate armature proportions on a clay sculpture and u may find yerself compromising more than u would in CG. If u can find dental tools cheap they have an awesome weight and precision for fine detail work in clay:
I'm now going to move on to sculpting. What I'm going to try and attain is an almost stone sculpture like feel to the spaceships metal. I am posting a couple of my own references that I'll be going off of during this process. I'll be posting another update by the end of the day as well to show some progress. References:
How long does it take you to make something? Let's get a feel for it in 2015. From start to finish considering the usual errors and reworks too. You can use hours, or days, approximations, etc. Feel free to add more objects that are more relevent to you. 1 day = 8 hours, a week = 5 days. Medium quality = think PS2/PS3…
hey guys I need your help, my likeness skills are not as well tuned as Id like them to be. so any help you can offer would be great. since its for print im going for bigger forms and not as minuet detail. Hi Everybody Wanted to put out a link to show my first stab at laying out a book to display a story I have regarding alien planet exploration. The art in here is a combination of 3d sculpture and 2d painting. It's still a work in progress and unfortunately the resolution is pretty low as of now but I would love to hear any…
I've been doing some sculpting in attempt to learn the ropes of zbrush and better my understanding of anatomy. Instead of doing just a t-pose for the final version I want to do something in the same vein as classic sculptures, posed and with some drapery like so: Here's my progress so far, working on making sure anatomy is…
Hey Guys, I've recently finished 2 Substance materials and need you valuable comments and crits to improve my texturing further, please have a look and let me know what you think: * Brick wall made of Cliff stone of some sort: 2. Stone wall with carvings on it, except for figurines sculptures (which is sculpted in Zbrush)…
most of the better sculptors i have seen rarely keep a final sculpture. the whole point is to improve your skill. sculpt something then break it down and reuse the clay. if you work on a sculpt and let it sit there is really not much that messes it up. dust is really not much of an issue. the clay is water resistant so you…
The outside of the courtyard turned out fantastic, really good job. As far as quick fixes, I think messing with the lighting in both the interior screenshots would be the best. The interior with the sculptures I think could emphasis a focal point better. Lessening the smoke, increasing the size of the fire on the braziers…
