Looks pretty good for a first attempt! When you first start it's very difficult to sculpt a model from a hi rez base mesh. It always comes out lumpy. If layer 0 is the active layer, and my teapot is in Layer001, when i detach an element as new object, it is created under the active layer 0 (which is logical). If I close and reopen the outliner, the new object is in Layer001… -

What is in the render window isn't correct and should always be ignored. It is a full render including the scene lighting (even scenes with no lighting still have the default light(s) behind the viewport camera). But if you don't want the actual shadow map, then you should render a diffuse map with lights and shadows… -

Don't forget that in the Advanced options, search mode is closest to envelope by default, which searches outside. Don't even bother with UV/smooth splits. Set the entire mesh to smooth, export .fbx with tangents bi-normals unchecked, import to SP with compute per-fragment checked (default) bake should be perfect at default ray-distance (.02) -

If I ever have interface problems I just go to 'Customize' and 'Custom UI and default switcher' and revert to the default UI, make sure that beforehand you save any preferences out and shortcuts etc, you'll then have to reload them
