Hey guys, I've been rattling my head around this all day. I'm in Unreal 4 and I've been trying to use post-process effects and light functions to create a light painting effect on highlights. I'm a student and realise I'm pretty inept at this but I'm really interested and trying to learn. So far I've done the easy bit,…
Spent lots of time experimenting with several variations of lights setup but it just kept getting more distracting and finlly simplified it and landed on this and am liking where this is going. I realized that I already had and incense stick holder next to the plant and just added a stick and lit it up. added some ghost…
Equil> First thing worth mentioning. I had help with the theory parts of the newer things in this shader. I did not read the papers myself, I got it explain second hand. Anyway. I was under the impression it was called Roughness by most people adopting this type of shading and therefor I wanted to stick to the same name.…
You shouldn't need to resort to a dynamic sun light for a scene like this. Not only is it unnecessary, but you will lose the lightmass bounced light from it. That certainly is an odd problem. Your lightmap looks high enough resolution to at least show some of the highlight considering how well it's showing the shadows from…
Check the lightmap channel in UDK to make sure it imported correctly. I have seen a glitch where UVs that go right out to the edge of UV space on all sides get crunched into a single vertex. Also might want to make sure your normals are facing the right way and there are no overlapping UVs.
Thank you for your input @pixelpatron. The lighting in the new project is not final, as it is only in the blockout stage. But, you might be right saying that I should go back to Throne Room and it's lighting. I might do that, but I consider that project "archaic" (even though I finished it not long time ago). The real…
Looking pretty good! The texture work is great =) Crits: - Not sure why you flipped the door texture? I kind of know why, "so the 5 would be right reading" but why not flip the UV? - The hinges are kind of weak, and I don't see any way to open or close the door other then manually? - The door doesn't really have inner…
I agree with nfrrtycmplx that your composition could use more work. Right now, my eye is kind of torn between two conflicting points of interest that fight for my attention : Either the chair (because of the perspective), or the desk (because of the lighting). You should decide what area you want to be your focal point and…
@sipher3325, kennyties: Thank you guys! @fenyce: Yea it was supposed to come from top right, the handle was the first part i painted and i really didn't get the shading right. I might give it an other pass maybe. Anyway I give you today's weapon. This one took kinda longer to finish, just over 6.5 hours. Pretty sure gold…
