Best option I know is to work in lower resolution (as low as possible) and then just up it for exporting

yes dilations, set it to 6 or 8. And see if that helps. Triangulate your mesh and export as FBX

thanks toast, i was originally exporting as an fbx which was working but tried obj and it comes in great.

why dont you use the 'export screen to psd' feature. thats the best of both worlds.
