agreed. don't restrict yourself to junior positions! Happened to me once - I applied as junior many years ago and the HR dude goes " we checked your stuff, we think you're not right for this position, but what do you think about this other position as...", turns out it was a regular non junior artist position.
SuperFranky - You can look from the top to the bottom, and see I gave priority to Environments/Props. I am a Sr. Environment Artist. I know that putting characters might seem a mess, I'm mostly showing off my work, not only for HR people. I'm updating for community sake and feedback of my work.
wow that thing is intense!! i love the hands, i love the face (bat like) and i absolutely love the back design. not a huge fan of the little kink in the ribcage, but wow, incredible piece !!!! excited to see the final version... the bones strutting out of the body reminds me a bit of HR gigers work on aliens, very similar
Yeap. I have not done many art tests but more than one of mine have never been downloaded. One place asked me to do an art test then the HR person went on vacation over the deadline. This caused my submission to be "late" and not considered. I have to say I am a bit jaded as well.
the "x amount of experience" is just there to scare away people with no confidence in their work. Imagine all the crappy portfolios HR would have to wade through if they just said "no experience required!". Games keep getting so big and complex but they still have to get done in relatively the same amount of time, I don't…
I'll probably hold off till I see what stretch goals are announced before I chuck in my money. A series would be nice or a 1 1/2 hrs movie which would allow for a better character development. But the first short was an amazing fun ride and more can only be a good thing.
Wow, how many years of experience do you need to have to charge 400$-600$/day? (edit: sorry those numbers are from the link that was given) I mean, I'm not doing freelancing but when I thought of it, I was assuming I'd charge about 10$/hr as a beginner artist. Do such prices even exist?
Really? last nights? i updated it... then it gave me an error that i lost connection.... and then when i tried to update again it told me i had the right update at the end. So i dunno whats up. This morning i booted it up again and played like an hr of Last of Us, so no issues on mine.
While I'm joining the laugh at the same time I do cringe more than just a bit when I see the question asked by recruiters/companies... and no, its not just small/inexperienced studios doing it... and on the other hand I guess we are already used this level of profiency from HR-departments all around the industries...
Positions opened for HALO Infinite at St. Petersburg's office including Lighting, Level Design & Animation seats! If you are interested, do tell me and I can speak with HR, which would make it easier for your profile to be reviewed by them. These are onsite offers of course, so please do not contact me if you are not…
