Hey Glynn, this isnt exactly how Epic dose modular assets for gears/ut3. For the most part for there floors and for some parts of there walls they use tiling textures on BSP and break up the edges/boring sections with modular assets. When they do use a modular floor asset that butts up against another to tile like you have…
The wall feels very rubbery or like an inflated bouncy castle. Soft and flexible. Walls tend not to flex much, but instead be very rigid, with harsh breaks and straight lines. I know you can't make everything free floating because it supports superman, but you can make everything more flat and jagged.
It's certainly coming along. The latest update looks a lot better than the first. One thing I'd change, and I'm surprised that nobody else has mentioned it, is the rolled-up scrolls in the left shelf. They look very flat, like they're just floating there right now. Try adding better shadows to them.
Hmm. Okay. Personally, I would like a bit more fidelity to it rather than baking it straight to a flat plane. :) Is it possible to weld the piece back after the baking? If not, I suppose I could just have it as a separate piece and keep it 'floating', so it looks like it's attached. And then attach all the pieces together.
"Fat Hammer" Grenade Launcher Minigun (concept by Billy Wimblett) The whole idea of this project was to challenge myself to do something I don't really like - I don't like weapons, not a big fan of a hard surface and don't like all those super low-poly models. Plus I don't use Arnold much, I never GPU rendered before,…
Looks nice though the wooden slats on the railroad tracks (rhyming!) look really flat. You could fix this by either painting in some depth, or you could double the geometry and put another layer underneath it thats slightly darker to give the illusion of depth.like this Though this uses an alpha, the principle is exactly…
ok well how can I create the highlighted parts in a high poly model? I don't see how I can do this with floating geo as it curves and is not flat, and it looks too dark to have ever had geo inside the slot there so it doesnt look like it was modeled in the high poly..
Glad you fixed some of the face proportions, looking a bit better. Might want to take a look at more winston churchill photos, you'll notice that his head is very round whereas you've got it a bit rectangular/boxy. Also one thing is his torso is posed very strange like he is jutting his gut out at you, but that's the only…
A couple of things: -Like everyone has said, your specular information is all over the place. His skin looks like it's made out of foil and the metal looks like it's factory new. Basically, like mentioned above, everything reads as the same material and it's causing him to look flat. -I'd bake the chains going around the…
@william21984 I'll try to answer some of your questions about the weapon. - I've made the steel plate of the grip with less curve than the grip itself, just make it as flat as possible without breaking the overall shape. - The bolts are regular flat head bolts, the shape you see is the way the artist adds sharpness to the…
