I totally get what you're saying. Unfortunately in practice that doesn't always work. There's no guarantee that a face's verts will be visible. It's entirely possible (and common) for part of a polygon to be visible, yet all its verts are intersected into other geometry. While it'd be great to do a per-vert search,…
if i am doing personal work I take as much time as I like. Why hurry if there is no deadline, unless you are specifically practicing speed modelling I have loads of discarded models. i rarely go back and finish them , becaue I often find its easier to start again and bring a fresh approach to it
Hm, I see! Thanks Sama and all. I can't send you the character I am working on now but will ask the programmer if he knows about any of this. My problem now lies elsewhere, it seems. I was actually just triangulating my model (and keeping it in proper strips because I thought that was good practice, na
Man, I want a chopper sooooo bad. I've been practicing in scenario mode with my joystick. I also finally got the video up of our first survivor encounter: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0LNQDYkNo4"]Day Z: Zombie Apocalypse Survival Diaries | Day 4: Night Survivor Encounter - YouTube[/ame]
Hey man, making mistakes is part of human nature! It's the only way to get better! The way I look at it is: Sometimes you win, sometimes you learn. But you never lose. What you did here is *not* wasted. You learned a valuable lesson in digital sculpting. We've all been there. Just keep practicing and never give up!
way toooooo many tri's for a crate like this. even if its practice it just seems silly. An inset and bevel is all you need on each side. The panelling should be faked with a normal map... which i can't see on the model right now. if your going to use a 1024 then make more sides rather than just one.
Yeah, I agree. I think now it's a decision of being practical or the impractical sci-fi. I'm happy with how the panels came out themselves, and I'd rather not replace them. I may just stick with the original concept, like I had before, and move on. I've been working on this since April. I appreciate the feedback though
I think this type of practice from doctors stems all the way to the education. The medical education system has grown insanely flawed and becomes increasingly based on cut throat standards that cause students to be bitter and cheat and do what ever they to do to get As. It's only about the grades on the paper and barely on…
I think going through the process of how you make a texture for this type of stylized hand-painted environment would be great. I don't mean as much for your portfolio, but for others to learn from. I would love to see the entire process from sculpting to final texture as it's something I plan to learn and practice a lot in…
Well with this project specifically, multiplayer elements would be an issue. Network programming is a whole other league and understanding it has always given me trouble, so multiplayer elements would need to be a planned update or extension, but I don't think its practical thinking it could be implemented within the time…
